Middle East crisis and impact on global hunger 

The Middle East crisis threatens to plunge millions more people into acute hunger in some of the world¡¯s most fragile, food-insecure countries.

The emergency has displaced millions from their homes and land ¨C leaving them destitute and without sources of food. Rising prices are also making it harder for vulnerable families to afford nutritious food, even where items remain available in local markets. 

Globally, increased security risks, disruption to maritime corridors and increasing costs are slowing down the delivery of food and other essential supplies.

An additional 45 million people could be pushed into food insecurity due to the secondary impact of the conflict. This would be on top of the 266 million people around the world who are already food insecure. 

The ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ (ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½) continues to urgently deliver life-saving assistance to the most vulnerable people and those displaced throughout the region and beyond.

This crisis comes amid severe funding shortfalls for ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½, which has forced significant prioritization of programmes across all continents. Continued support is essential to ensure food reaches those who need it most.
